Stain Basics
The faster you respond, the easier the stain is to remove. Once a stain sets, removal gets much harder. Every stain in this guide boils down to three core techniques.
A
Apply
Wet a clean, white (unprinted) paper towel with a cleaning solution, then dampen the stained area. Don't soak through to the backing.
B
Blot
Press straight down with a clean, dry paper towel to pull up the excess. Don't rub. Weight down a pad of white paper towels overnight to draw out remaining moisture.
S
Scrape
Use the blunt edge of a spoon to gently scrape the soiled area, working from the outside of the spot toward the middle so you don't spread the stain.
